Don’t worry, the title of this blog doesn’t mean that Facebook are about to start charging us for using Facebook on our mobiles. What it means is that Facebook are currently testing a payments system that could rival PayPal.
The idea is that the system would use your Facebook login information, which will be paired with your credit card details. You will then be able to buy products through partnered app without having to re-enter your billing information.
At the moment it’s very much in its testing phase, but the plan is to make it as simple as possible to make mobile payments.
PayPal are also currently trialling a purchasing system in the UK, which will allow you to buy products in shops from your mobile. Facebook’s system will initially focus on online products.
So what do you think? Good or bad idea? Honestly I’m, not sure! I like the idea of my life being easier, particularly for example if my purse gets stolen or I forget my card. That makes sense. What worries me is that one glass of wine too many and before you know it I’ll have bought giant Jenga for the garden and the box set of “Wurzel Gummidge”
Would you use a Facebook mobile payments system?
